BEING A MOM HAS TAUGHT ME HOW TO BE A GOOD TEACHER

To be or not to be...that is the question. To be a mom before being a teacher proved to be one of the best learning curves possible. As a mom, I learned to be compassionate and understand to the individual needs of both my kids. However, it seems as a teacher, we are letting that slide and forgetting that the students we are trying to educate are the children of other mothers. As parents we learn the virtue of patience and the need to incorporate it into our everyday routines regardless of our own personal emotions that may sometimes stand in the way. As a teacher who entered the field after becoming mother first, I feel as though I brought an extra tool in the toolbox with me. So for all the mothers out there that are considering a career change, teaching may be the path for you since it is something that you do daily already.
